Harris Radio Co., entered the broadcast industry when it purchased the Gates Radio Co in 1957. It continued marketing under the Gates brand until 1975. The Gates logo was revived in 1990 to brand the "budget line" Gates One and Gates Five transmitters.
In 1988, Harris purchased Allied Radio in Richmond, IN, and expanded into a "full service" sales organization.
