Amen. I had a ground system client back out of a scheduled rebuild because his signal went up dramatically when they cut back the extremely heavy overgrowth. They were planning on cutting the larger overgrowth and then grub the stumps, roots and smaller stuff before we arrived. Just cutting the larger overgrowth netted a noticeable improvement in signal and grinding the rest of it returned the signal to anticipated levels.
They have been spraying the shoots for 2 years but the signal has remained good at last report.

Agree here too but don't be misled that an elevated GS is cheaper because it is only 6-8 radials. 8 degree tall poles are expensive.
In Rolf's instance or over a "challenged" site, an elevated GS is a great alternative. As Mike suggested, a heart to heart talk with the AHJ over the environmental problem may get a waiver to clear the guy and elevated radial paths.
