Ecuadorian Broadcast History:
The first regular broadcast station in Ecuador was HCJB,
the Voice of the Andes, on December 25, 1931. This pioneer Gospel missionary
station in Latin America, opened in Quito initially using a 200 watt
transmitter. There was at least one other station, "Radio El Prado"
from Riobamba, which was basically a ham operator who did some broadcasting
