Dr. Allen Balcom Du Mont
(January 29, 1901, Brooklyn, NY - November 15, 1965, New York City)
Du Mont has been described by some as the "Father of Television" as
he developed a commercially successful cathode-ray oscilloscope. He also founded
the company that became Allen B. Du Mont Laboratories and
one of the first television networks, the Du Mont Network (1945-1956).
A history of the Du Mont network can be found (in 11/00) here.
